Johnson Announces Intention to Run for Senate; Has Plan to Offer Significant Tuition Support and Student Debt Relief to all Americans
Atlanta, Ga. October 24, 2019 -- A. Wayne Johnson announces his intention to seek Republican support in order to serve Georgia in the U.S. Senate.
Johnson, 67, is a successful businessman who served for two and a half years as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of Federal Student Aid at the U.S. Department of Education. There, he oversaw the federal government’s $1.4 trillion portfolio of student loans and introduced several improvements in the program, including making it possible to apply for financial aid – FAFSA – on a mobile device. He submitted his resignation to U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos today.
